Schwabe Group awards research prizes at important Phyto Congress
2024-07-16At the International Congress on Natural Product Research in Krakow, Poland, the Schwabe Group presented the Dr. Willmar Schwabe Award and the Dr. Willmar Schwabe Young Talent Prize to two female scientists from Indonesia and Hong Kong, respectively.
The Dr. Willmar Schwabe Award, worth €10,000, was presented to Dr. Sri Fatmawati for her outstanding contributions to elucidating the pharmacological activities of plants found in Indonesia. Her research aimed at discovering and characterizing natural substances found in Garcinia bancana, Mangifera rufocostata and Gonystylus bancanus; their therapeutic potential was described as innovative and pioneering.
Dr. Sri Fatmawati is Associate Professor at the Laboratory of Natural Product and Synthetic Chemistry at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) in Surabaya, Indonesia.
The Dr. Willmar Schwabe Young Talent Prize, worth €10,000, was awarded to Dr. Cherry Lifeng Li for her outstanding research centered around polysaccharide and peptide analysis in natural medicines to help understanding the pharmacological effects of various herbal drugs.
Dr. Li is Assistant Professor at the Hong Kong Baptist University.

Together we will be defining the future of phytomedicine,” says Dirk Bredenbröker, EVP R&D at the Schwabe Group, at the award ceremony in Krakow.
The International Congress on Natural Products Research is organized by seven independent professional societies from America, Asia and Europe. It brings together more than 1,200 scientists from all over the world to jointly expand the current state of knowledge about all aspects of natural product research.
