The school is completed!

For nearly 15 years, the Schwabe Group has supported education projects for young people in southern Africa with the Umckaloabo Foundation, which was founded by Schwabe in 2010. Since then it has already invested over six million euros total and supported more than 65 educational projects.

The Makululu Combined Secondary School in Kabwe, Zambia, has now successfully completed construction on a large new extension which the Schwabe Group financed with 50,000 euros.

The new buildings contain additional classrooms, a home-economics unit, a library and an administrative area. The school is now able to take in more students: the number of children who can attend will rise from the current 850 to 1,200.

Thanks to the 2022 Africa Runners

We are incredibly grateful to the Africa Runners. Their contributions also made the expansion of the school possible. In 2022 they raised donations totaling 55,000 euros for the Makululu Combined Secondary School. Many, many thanks!

Makululu Combined School now bigger and better

Students now have the option of completing a technical certificate which will not only greatly increase their prospects on the job market but will even make them eligible to attend university as well. This new development will also benefit the city of Kabwe and its inhabitants, because giving young people better professional opportunities means that local families and the entire region will also have better perspectives for their future.
